Paint

In Symi, and to a lesser extent in Rhodes, paint is used on a broad array of surfaces I don't normally think of painting.

Stairs ... (Those head up to a lone house. The thought of hauling up furniture, or even groceries, is daunting.)

Stone ...

Plastic pots, the cheap kind most people toss after removing the plant ...

Even awnings.

And yes, you'll see that Greek men aren't the Adonises of myth. They actually age fairly poorly, probably due to the insanely high incidence of smoking. Why they're not all fit, with nothing but stairs everywhere, though, I can't figure out. Honestly, the landscape looks like a steeplechase for people, but very few people are anywhere near healthy weight.
